原作江户川乱步的《湖畔亭事件》。影片以改革先锋、国家荣誉称号获得者、2019感动中国人物、第三任敦煌研究院院长现敦煌研究院名誉院长樊锦诗坚守大漠半个多世纪的人生故事为主要内容，记叙、纪录敦煌研究院有代表性的老中青三代人的人生故事，旨在回溯敦煌研究院建院以来几代敦煌人对莫高窟的保护、研究、传承的经历。。The film is based loosely around events in December 1995 that culminated in the murders of three drug dealers in Rettendon, Essex, UK. On 6th December Patrick Tate, Craig Rolfe and Tony Tucker, three drug dealers well known to the police, were lured to Workhouse Lane, Rettendon.
